Fleet depth across excavators, articulated dump trucks, dozers, loaders, telehandlers and more
On-site service and parts
In Fort Myers and Miami, rental shortages mean the right machine is often weeks or months away, and a missing machine means the whole job slows. Delays translate to lost revenue, idle crews, and cascading schedule headaches that can eat profit and customer trust.
We keep projects on schedule by staging a large local fleet and moving machines where they’re needed fast.
How we help keep Tomahawk construction on schedule
Tomahawk Construction, a regional earthwork contractor handling large-lot site builds, needed reliable heavy equipment on short notice to dig 20-foot lakes, build house pads, and keep work moving despite high groundwater. Newman Tractor staged the right machines and provided on-site support, so crews stayed productive. As Andrew Montgomery from Tomahawk says, “We’ve had minimal damage repairs, and they’ve lasted really well for us.”
What we delivered
Machine delivered: large excavator for deep-lake digging (note: Tomahawk normally runs a CAT 374 but has a SANY SY750 out on demo for this project).
Local staging and delivery of multiple machines across the site.
Fast parts and field service when the job demanded it.
Ongoing equipment rotation to keep productivity high.
“With NT you are a big fish in a small pond. Our customers are important to us. We can give [them] more attention than big competitive brands while offering the same competitive machines. Our Service times are often within 24 hours.” - Ward
Project details
Tomahawk’s crew cleared dense vegetation, dug 20-foot lakes, and used the excavated material to build house pads and access roads. These were big, repetitive earthmoving tasks across multiple lots (five lakes already dug and several more still on the schedule) so the job needed heavy, reliable machines that could keep up day after day.
The biggest hurdle on site was groundwater. The sand and high water table meant crews were pumping and dewatering constantly while digging, which makes the work slower and puts extra stress on equipment. When machines go down in conditions like that, delays multiply quickly and moving the schedule forward gets expensive.
Newman Tractor’s staged fleet and local field service kept the work moving. We delivered the right excavators and support equipment quickly, rotated machines as needed, and provided parts and techs on site so repairs didn’t stop progress. That combination let Tomahawk keep digging, build pads to spec, and stay on schedule despite the wet conditions.
Why local fleet depth matters
Having deep local inventory means faster delivery, more exact machine matching, and less downtime when things break. Instead of waiting days for a replacement or paying to ship a distant machine, crews get what they need fast. That’s why we stage over 1,000 rental machines across the Fort Myers and Miami areas, so jobs stay productive and project timelines don’t get eaten by equipment gaps.
